Few companies in US history have had a reputation as beleaguered as Penn Centralís. Entering bankruptcy very shortly after its creation, the PC squandered the legacy of its constituent companies - the Pennsylvania RR, New York Central, and New Haven. But taken in context over 25 years after it was folded into Conrail, things might not have been as bad as they seemed at the time.
VIGNETTES OF THE PENN CENTRAL - Volume 1 takes a look at the PC at Ohio locations including Columbus (Buckeye, Olentangy, High Street, Union Depot), Toledo (Vickers, Central Union Terminal, CP Maumee), the Cleveland area (Elyria, Berea, Rockport, CUT, Willoughby), and many more. Indiana scenes on the Water Level Route include Porter, South Bend, and Waterloo.
Volume 2 includes exciting footage of mostly ex-PRR locations between Pittsburgh and Harrisburg, and a look at the electrified regions east of Harrisburg.
