VIGNETTES of the Lehigh Valley, Volume 2 DVD

The Lehigh Valley Railroad stretched from New York City to the important railroad Gateway city of Buffalo, NY. The LV not only provided a vital link to the East for Midwestern roads such as the Nickel Plate and Wabash, but also tapped the rich anthracite coalfields of Pennsylvania in the process.

Volume II of Vignettes of the Lehigh Valley covers "The Valley" between Bethlehem, PA and he coalfields near Hazelton, PA from 1948 to 1968. Locations visited include Geisingers, Allentown, Catasauqua, Lehighton, Jim Thorpe, Glen Onoko, rockport, Ashmore, Delano, and more. First generation EMD, Alco, and Baldwin diesels join The Valley's last steam engines on freight and passenger trains, RDC's and motor cars are seen on locals in the Hazelton area, and "Pups" handle locals through parklike settings on Allentown's Barber Branch.

Veteran photographer Claude Goebel, Charles Houser, Sr., Bruce Kantner, David Latshaw, and Michael Bednar have provided us with this exciting look at the Lehigh Valley's transition years through the region nicknamed "The Switzerland of America", in Vignettes of the Lehigh Valley - Volume II.

The LV's mainline from Easton, PA to Buffalo is featured in Volume I covering the years 1970-1976.
